Poster & Wall Art Flattening Guide

In this post: Posters & Wall Art Flattening Guide & Tutorial.

For products:

  • Panther Map Posters (AP-PMP)
  • All other Wall Art (P-Poster)

Your poster will have been delivered in a cardboard mailing tube and wrapped in a cellophane bag for protection against rain and humidity. It's important to open and unpack your poster as soon as you can to make the flattening procedure easy. The longer you leave it rolled up, the longer it may take for the paper to unwind and flatten back out.

Flattening Your Poster

For best results, make sure that the surface you use to flatten your poster is completely flat, clean, and dry. Note that if you are mounting your poster into a poster frame, you can disregard the flattening process. Follow the frame manufacturer's instructions for installing and mounting.

1.🟧 Flat Surface
You can use the cellophane bag that your poster was shipped in as a protective layer against the flat surface (ideally a tabletop) and the weight used to flatten your poster. Leave your poster on its bag, unroll it, and place it on a flat surface.

2.🏋️♀️ Weight
Evenly distribute books, boxes or any other wide, flat object on top of your poster at its four-corners and center.

3. Wait
For best results, leave the poster over night before checking to see if it has been sufficiently flattened. If it hasn't flattened all the way, repeat the flattening process for another 8 hours or until it has been flattened to your liking.
